All meetings and other in-person interactions have been suspended due to the global pandemic. Please check out our Facebook group to quickly connect with the local leader.

All La Leche League meetings are always free to attend!
Meetings are led by parent volunteers who have breastfed their children and been trained and accredited by La Leche League International to offer information and support to other nursing parents.

All meetings currently suspended due to the global pandemic.
La Leche League of Mankato/St. Peter meets twice a month:
  • every 2nd Monday of the month, 6:30 - 8:00 pm at Aurora Chiropractic, 1051 Madison Ave, Suite 2, Mankato;
  • every 3rd Tuesday of the month from 6:30 - 8:00 pm at River Valley Birth Center in St. Peter, 526 W Park Row.
Meeting topics change from month to month, and include information and discussions about advantages of breastfeeding, early days, common obstacles and difficulties, nursing into toddlerhood and beyond, nutrition and weaning, as well as much more. Check out our meeting topics here.

For information about meeting topics, please check our Events page, our Facebook page, or call us or e-mail. Meetings topics are just general guidelines and no two meetings are alike.

At a La Leche League meeting you can...
  • Listen and learn. No two people at a meeting will have the same parenting style. They might not share the same experiences or give the same advice. You'll see things you like, as well as those you don't like. Try what you like and leave the rest.
  • Ask questions... or provide answers. There are no bad questions, only bad answers. Feel free to ask anything related to nursing and parenting and we'll do our best to help you out.
  • Be yourself. Be chatty. Share, or overshare. Sit back and relax. Observe. No one will pressure to participate if you don't want to.
  • Get out with your baby. La Leche League meetings are designed with babies in mind. They are informal and no one will mind if you nurse, change a diaper, soothe a fretful child, step outside, and come back when you can. It feels good to get out of the house with your baby; what better place to come?
  • Make lasting friendships. Some friendships that start at La Leche League meetings last long after the children are grown.
  • Complain. It often helps to talk to people who have "been there." Whatever you're going through, someone at the meeting will have been through something similar, if not the same.
  • Find someone to rely on. La Leche League Leaders are just an email or phone call away. Seek them any time you need to talk, have a question, or need encouragement.
  • Build your tribe. It takes a village to raise a child. Come meet families like yours, or completely different ones.
  • Help someone else. When you come to a La Leche League meeting, you don't just learn from other parents; they have a chance to learn from you. You become a part of the parent-to-parent support network that began at the first meeting in 1956 and has spread around the world. What you share at a meeting might make someone's day.

  • A Facebook community
  • Annual breastfeeding celebration
  • Extensive lending library with books about breastfeeding, childbirth, parenting, nutrition, and more
Our goal is to offer the information and support you need to meet your individual nursing goals. There is not one "LLL way"; we encourage you to take what works for you and leave the rest behind. Our meeting attendees represent a variety of experience and opinions, and we would like everyone to leave with greater confidence in their own instincts, and empowered to make decisions that are best for their families. Our meetings are a safe, comfortable place where you can ask any questions related to nursing and parenting, and find support and encouragement in your journey. Nursing babies and their siblings are always welcome, as well.

Attending a few of our meetings should provide you with a solid overview of the normal course of breastfeeding. Our meetings are different from month to month and we strive to make them interesting and appealing to both seasoned parents and those who are with us for the very first time. We try to make sure nobody leaves with an unanswered question, too!

If you have a nursing concern or question that needs a Leader’s immediate attention, please send an email our way. We will gladly answer your questions at  507-400-0928 or in our Facebook group.
